With Newquay airport now offering direct flights from far and wide Newquay is an ideal place to base yourself for your stay in Cornwall.

The most popular past time when visiting Newquay is of course the sport of surfing and with so many world class beaches it is easy to see why. If you are just beginning or you need to brush up on your technique why not try having a surfing lesson with NorthShore surf safari. They can provide you with all the equipment and knowledge needed to get you on your feet and riding the waves.

If surfing is not your thing then there is no shortage of things to do in and around Newquay. The Gannel estuary is the perfect place for a tranquil walk and is a haven for wildlife and plants. The Gannel is tidal so it is not recommended that you swim or wade due to the strong and varying currents and if you are planning a walk down there then be sure to check the high tide times. There are two foot bridges that can be crossed at low and mid tide and if it does happen to be high tide then there is a ferry that operates in the summer season from Fern pit to Crantock Beach, giving you the ideal opportunity to pop into the Fern Pit for a very tasty crab sandwich!

Lusty Glaze is a privately owned cove that offers the unique combination of a spotlessly clean family friendly beach with excellent rock pools just waiting to be explored, along side full facilities of an activity centre offering a number of outdoor pursuits.

Another family orientated beach is Towan which can be found a short walk from the apartment. Towan is host to the famous Newquay landmark The Island which at its base has a man made paddling pool which is great for the kids. Surfboards are not permitted on Towan beach during the summer season making it a brilliant beach for a safe dip in the sea!

At low tide you can access Newquay`s working harbour from Towan beach. There is always something going on in the harbour whether it’s the boats coming in with the days catch, budding anglers hoping to get the fish of the day on one of the many fishing excursions or the gig rowers going out for a race across the bay! At the end of the day they will probably all end up in the rowing club having a well earned drink!
